Have you built a Better Public Building?

CABE is looking for entries from architects and public sector clients for the 2008 Prime Minister’s Better Public Building Award.

The design watchdog is inviting public projects of any size and budget to be submitted as long as they have helped deliver public services more effectively.

Schemes that have been shortlisted in the past have included footbridges, a park café, a memorial garden and a rooftop nursery. Last year’s winner was White Design’s Dalby Forest Visitor Centre in North Yorkshire (pictured).

To be eligible projects must have been:

• commissioned by or on behalf of central or local government, or by a grant-aided organisation;
• completed after 1 January 2007 and come into use by 31 January 2008.

The closing date for entries is 17 April 2008, and entry forms can be downloaded at www.betterpublicbuilding.org.uk.
