Duggan Morris has won the go-ahead for this 220-home scheme on London’s Greenwich Peninsula – the growing practice’s largest scheme to date
The 23,000m² Thamesside project – officially Plot 18.03 West Parkside – sits on a corner site at the south-eastern tip of a new masterplan for the area by Allies + Morrison and is backed by developer Knight Dragon.
Earlier this month the developer revealed plans for a huge 130,000m2 office and transport hub scheme by Spanish architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava on the site of the nearby North Greenwich Underground station (see AJ 02.02.17).
Duggan Morris claims its designs, which feature a large proportion of family apartments and include 25 per cent affordable and social rented homes, will usher in the delivery of a new phase of projects from architects including Hall McKnight and Alison Brookes Architects.
The scheme’s three blocks – the highest a 22-story tower – are arranged around a central courtyard and will be connected at ground and first floor by a pavilion providing shared communal facilities.
The project has been designed in collaboration with Universal Design Studio (interiors) and engineers OCSC.
