Gehry’s mobile home is on the move again

Frank Gehry’s 1987 Winton Guest House is set to go up for auction in Chicago, and could fetch up to $1.5 million, but the successful bidder will have to transport it to a new location.

The building has already had a transient life. Originally designed for a site on the edge of Minnesota’s Lake Minnetonka, the 700m2 scheme moved 110 miles to Owatonna for restoration in 2008 after a developer donated it to the University of St Thomas.

Last year, the school sold the property on which the structure had been rebuilt, and it must now be removed by August 2016.
