Sarah Gaventa has resigned from Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (RSH+P) to join London-based ‘place-making’ consultancy Beyond Green

The former CABE director has headed up RSH+P’s press office for two and a half years, but will leave the practice next Thursday to become design director and curator of Beyond Green’s Remarkable Cities programme.

Gaventa described her new company as ‘an unusual beast’ with a remit to ‘…make better neighbourhoods with an emphasis on housing and place making.’

‘I am going back to my first love of public space and place making,’ added Gaventa before revealing that her first role would be a scheme in Southwark for an undisclosed client.

As well as heading up the Remarkable Cities programme Gaventa, who has chaired the Elephant & Castle Community forum for the last three years, has also been charged with setting up a summer school in Cambridge.

She promised ‘world class speakers and events’ at the residential course which will be held annually at the University’s Pembroke College.

Gaventa, who will also work closely with Beyond Green’s Danish partners Schulze+Grassov on public realm design, said her departure from RSH+P ‘was entirely amicable’.

‘I will miss my lovely colleagues. A job add for the new me is going in the AJ this week,’ she said.
