Foster + Partners has revealed plans for an 80-storey tower in Toronto which is set to become the Canadian city’s second tallest building
The 318m-tall mixed-use scheme, named ‘The One’, includes 560 flats above nine-storeys of shops, cafes and restaurants.
According to the practice the project ‘pioneers a new model of vertical retail in the city’.
It will feature a central public atrium with a green wall, and semi-enclosed winter gardens are planned for various levels of the skyscraper.
The project was submitted for planning earlier this week.
Three years ago the UK’s largest practice completed a 35-storey tower across the country in Vancouver. The Jameson House project included the restoration of two 1920s Beaux Arts structures integrated into the scheme (see AJ 28.01.12).
