DSDHA's jewellery boutique opens for business

[FIRST LOOK + PLANS] DSDHA has completed a zinc-clad studio and boutique for jeweller Alex Monroe in Bermondsey, London

The Kennington-based practice has dropped a three-storey zinc addition on top of a restored Edwardian shop front within the Bermondsey Street Conservation Area, to create a headquarters for Alex Monroe Studio.

The scheme retains an existing shop on the ground floor which now sits below a studio, workshop and meeting room topped with a roof terrace. A space for heavy machinery has been built in the basement.

The addition is constructed with a prefabricated cross-laminated timber structure, that was erected in two days, and clad in a hand-finished zinc rain screen.
