Feminism’s triumph is a blow for skyline

  • Comment

Campaign queen Barbara Weiss – the mastermind behind both Skyline and Women in Architecture – must have been conflicted by news that a female architect was behind London’s newest skyscraper, PLP’s 20 Bishopsgate

Which campaign, the AJ editors wondered, would trump the other, in Weiss’ eyes?

As her comments in this week’s letters page show, the placement of tall buildings on London’s skyline overrules any feelings Weiss has for Karen Cook’s achievement of being the first woman architect of a City-of-London high rise. In fact, news that it will be the tallest for the corporation probably only makes it worse.
