Work is set to start next month on Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios’ £350 million South Bank scheme in Leeds – which could eventually include Yorkshire’s tallest tower
Developer Commercial Estates Group (CEG) announced last week that it had reached agreement with Leeds City Council over its Section 106 commitments for the 3.5ha development, which was granted planning consent back in April.
This means work can get underway in November, demolishing a warehouse building on Water Lane and preparing the site for development. Archaeological excavation will take place to preserve historical artefacts from the site, which housed two 18th-century mills run by flax industry pioneer John Marshall.
CEG has also started marketing its development, which has detailed planning permission for two office blocks including 26,100m² of commercial and shopping space as well as outline consent for up to 750 homes and more than 100,000m² of office, retail, leisure, hotel, health, education and community facilities.
CEG said the scheme would also revitalise the approach to movement around the area, using a data-rich traffic micro-simulation model of the city centre highway network.
