  • Comment

North-east based FaulknerBrowns Architects has revealed images of a hydro-powered office development on the bank of the River Wear in Durham

The £23million masterplan includes 8,000m2 of office space for National Savings & Investments (NS&I), a restaurant, visitor centre and a public square.

Electricity at the Durham city centre site will be provided by a hydro-turbine powered from the adjacent River Wear. The turbine will generate more than 75 per cent of its energy needs.

The scheme, which is currently on site, is expected to complete in 2015.
