Farrells has won work on a 471-home scheme in west London that will also create new headquarters for Ealing Council
The practice will work with contractor Galliford Try Partnerships on the £275 million project, which will also include a library and retail space.
Half of the homes built will be affordable, and the existing council headquarters at Perceval House will be refurbished.
Farrells managing partner Laura Mazzeo said: ‘Tapping into Galliford Try’s contractor experience, we have developed a highly innovative design solution.
‘True to Farrells’ belief that place is the client, the location of the new office building and its sensitive architecture playfully responds to the Portland stone of the Grade II-listed Town Hall and the Art Deco Filmworks cinema.
‘It will create an attractive and welcoming civic square for Ealing town centre, while acting as a catalyst for further regeneration.’
Following detailed design works and public consultation, the scheme is expected to go to the council’s planning committee next spring.
Work could start on site by September 2018, with completion by 2025.
