EPR has been named as winner of AJ100 Client’s Choice for the second year running

Which architect would you like to work with again, and who would you most like to work with in the future? Those were the telling questions put to more than 800 clients to decide the Clients’ Choice accolade.

The combined answer was resoundingly EPR Architects, which won by a substantial margin. The award is something of a vindication for a practice that quietly gets on with delivering a broad and increasingly high-profile range of work. EPR’s strength is its expertise across three core disciplines: hotels, offices and residential. This diversity has paid off, with total architect numbers rising to 122 in a practice of more than 223 staff based in London and Wrocław, Poland.

While EPR has a track record as an executive architect, recent key London completions include lead designer roles on the transformation of Hotel Russell in Russell Square and The Ned, the high-profile hotel conversion of the Grade I-listed former Midland Bank headquarters in the City of London, designed by Edwin Lutyens. Ongoing work includes the transformation of The Old War Office in Whitehall into a luxury hotel and residences.

While the practice has a long history – 2017 marked its 70th anniversary – this repeat win suggests it can also look to the future with confidence.
