EPR has been named the firm clients would most like to work with
Pleasing clients should guarantee success, so congratulations are due to EPR Architects for securing this award, in which clients vote for the AJ100 practice with which they most enjoy dealing. This year the number of votes rose impressively and, despite an outstanding shortlist, EPR Architects won easily.
The practice has particular expertise in office, residential and hotel design and combines an awareness of current and evolving technologies with an understanding of human constants: perception, emotion and physiological responses to space.
Two recent and contrasting planning approvals are for the redevelopment of Westminster’s Old War Office building for The Hinduja Group and OHL, and a masterplan to redevelop the former Shredded Wheat factory site in Welwyn Garden City, respecting the ideals of garden city pioneer Ebenezer Howard. This latter project demonstrates a pleasing continuity with EPR’s history, since the design of Welwyn’s town hall was one of the first projects that launched the practice in 1947.
Managing director Chris Castle has described EPR Architects as ‘combining the energy of youth and the efficient infrastructure of a large established design house’. It seems from this year’s Clients’ Choice award that clients agree.
