Double celebration at the BT Tower as its marks half century

Jane Priestman, winner of the AJ’s inaugural Ada Louise Huxtable Prize, was one of a gathering of industry grandees at the BT Tower to launch Open House London 2015 and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the landmark building last week.

She was joined by, among others, Alison Brooks, Eva Jiricná, Peter Rees, Alan Stanton, Richard Blakewayand MP Nick Raynsford, who gave an opening address celebrating the ‘quite extraordinary’ achievement of Open House in galvanising Londoners to look at their city.

Great to hear the BT Tower will feature in the programme (19-20 September) – the view is phenomenal. Tips for visitors: your ears will pop as you zoom in the lift to the revolving platform on the 34th floor; and don’t look down at the split floor as it moves, it’s a weird sensation.
