DSDHA appointed to West End office redevelopment

DSDHA has been appointed to work on the redevelopment of a 17,650m² office building on London’s Shaftesbury Avenue

The scheme is set to be one of the London-based practice’s largest projects to date.

It is understood that Almacantar, who purchased the building from BlackRock UK Property Fund back in July 2013 for around £110million, has asked the practice to look at a number of redevelopment options.

The ten-storey building, built in 1982, provides office and retail space. The development is currently occupied by Yahoo, Lloyds TSB and Gucci, but all leases on the building are set to expire by 2016.

According to Almacantar, the building is in one of the capital’s most ‘eclectic and inspiring locations’.

A previous scheme for the site is understood to have been drawn up for BlackRock by John Robertson Architects (JRA).
