Denizen Works wins planning for second Tiree home

  • Comment

Denizen Works has won planning permission for this new home on Tiree - just five miles from the practice’s award-winning House No 7 cottage

The four bedroom family at Mannal, on the western tip of the island in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides, will be built within a number of ruins and re-uses and existing boat shed.

A spokesman for the London-based firm said: ’We have inserted the living accommodation and master-suite into a byre building sitting within the wall of the boat shed.

’Adjoining this, with fantastic views out to sea, is the bedroom wing creating extra shelter to the external spaces of the house’.

Work is expected to start on site early next year.

The practice won the Stephen Lawrence Prize for the best UK project under £1million two years ago with its House No 7 across the isle at Heanish -  an ‘intelligent and witty’ house designed for the parents of Denizen Works’ founder Murray Kerr.
