Darling Associates makes Manchester move after practice swoop

  • Comment

Expanding AJ100 practice Darling Associates has bought Cheshire-based leisure and hospitality specialist Architect-CT

Architect-CT provides architecture and interior design services to the pub and hotel sector as well as working on retail and residential care clients.

The purchase takes place as Darling Associates celebrates its 15th anniversary, and less than a month after it was shortlisted for the AJ100 Fastest Growing Practice of the Year award.

Managing director Chris Darling said: ‘This will assist us with our expanded portfolio of regional projects and also to enhance our skills in the hotel and hospitality sectors.”

He said that the acquisition, along with the expansion of the firm’s Poland studio, means it now employs 120 staff.

Architect-CT’s director principal Paul Brook said: ‘This move will certainly open up a range of opportunities for the Wilmslow studio to work across an expanded portfolio of services and sectors, and in turn we’re keen to help capitalise on our strong position in the pubs and hotels space, leveraging Darling’s strong London network as we contribute to our collective ongoing success.’

Architect-CT, which has its office in Wilmslow, will initially keep its branding, operating as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Darling Associates, with a gradual transition into the parent practice.

Darling Associates’ most recent set of results, released in July last year, showed a 52 per cent surge in pre-tax profits to £1.53 million.
