Final few tickets remaining for the inaugural AJ Architecture Awards, hosted by Irish comedian Dara O’Briain

The AJ can announce that O’Briain – known for hosting panel shows including Mock the Week and The Apprentice: You’re Fired! – will present its new annual awards at a gala dinner in central London next month.

The awards recognise the best architecture across 20 categories, ranging from community schemes and cultural projects to tall buildings and designing the workplace.

The AJ Architecture Awards shortlist – totalling 120 projects across the different categories – was revealed in May. Each project was visited by at least two of the judges.

The shortlist includes schemes by IF_DO, BDP, Foster + Partners, Hoskins Architects, Hawkins\Brown, Dow Jones Architects, Carmody Groarke, Lisa Shell Architects, Coffey Architects, Bell Phillips Architects, Duggan Morris, Reiach and Hall, Grimshaw, Make, and AHMM.

The AJ Architecture Awards will be held on 7 December in the Grosvenor House Hotel, central London. The evening’s celebrations will culminate in the announcement of three special awards, chosen from all entries: the AJ Design of the Year, the AJ Architect of the Year and the AJ Editor’s Choice Award.

All winning projects will feature in print in a special edition of the AJ and online, and award recipients will receive a special plaque to commemorate their success – and display on their building.
