[First look] AJ100 practice AFL Architects has won planning permission for this 20,000 capacity football stadium in Brentford, west London

Masterplanned by FaulknerBrowns, the 21,000m2 redevelopment of Lionel Road South will create a new home for Brentford Football Club alongside community facilities, 910 homes, a hotel and retail.

Brentford FC chair Cliff Crown said: ‘Our vision of an exciting new hub at this brownfield site has taken a significant step towards realisation with the council’s decision to approve our application.

‘This is a once in a generation chance to create a vibrant new stadium and adds to the buzz that is going on around Brentford.  Brentford is on the up as a destination, with new homes, retail, sports and leisure facilities which bring new jobs to the area.”

AFL sports director John Roberts added: ‘We are delighted with the news that this fantastic new stadium for Brentford Football Club has received planning permission. We are passionate about the design of these new facilities that will serve both the football club and local community hand in hand.’

The project was approved by Hounslow Council’s planning committee on Thursday last week (5 December).
