Clive Chapman Architects has won approval for a ‘country house clause’ home in the grounds of a Grade II*-listed former rectory and preparatory school in Northamptonshire
The proposed 327m2 single-storey Passivhaus behind The Grange, outside the confines of Hellidon village, was approved under Paragraph 55 of the National Planning Policy Framework – an exemption allowing new-build homes in the open countryside under ‘special circumstances’.
According to the Twickenham-based practice, the scheme, which features a green roof, will ‘preserve the existing kitchen garden walls, and minimises impact in its rural setting by using local materials sympathetic to the surrounding structures’.
