Internal promotions at WCEC and Burwell Deakins and a new appointment at the Royal College of Art

Derbyshire-based practice WCEC have made four internal promotions. Nick Fenton, Matthew Bennett, Matthew Borland and Chris Lynch have all been made associate directors.

Bennett and Fenton have been responsible for a number of residential, commercial and mixed-use schemes, while Borland has been involved in educational projects, such as student living projects in York, Sheffield and Leeds. Lynch has worked in the retail team for clients including Morrison’s and Harvey Nichols.

Simon Parkes of Burwell Deakins was recently promoted from associate to director. He has been with Burwell Deakins Architects for ten years and has worked on numerous projects including the multiple RIBA Award-winning Loughborough Design School. 

Dr Jonathan Antonio Edelman

Dr Jonathan Antonio Edelman

This month, Dr Jonathan Antonio Edelman will take up his position as Head of Global Innovation Design (GID) at the Royal College of Art.

Dr Edelman came to the RCA in January 2015 where until now he held the position of senior tutor on the design products program. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University’s Centre for design research.

He has worked as a visiting professor at Politecnico di Milano and the Grenoble Institute of Technology.
