Local authority advertises for place-making consultant to provide three-year service worth up to £400,000

Brighton & Hove City Council is looking to hire an architecture and place-making consultant to provide a design review service over a three-year period.

The service will be paid for by developers seeking pre-application advice, and is estimated to be worth up to £400,000. The council’s aim is to ‘promote high-quality design submissions and help to deliver the vision and objectives of the Brighton & Hove City Plan’.

Sean Webber, a procurement specialist at the council, said the service would be similar to the design panel provided for Oxford City Council by Design Council Cabe.

He said: ‘It will be dependent on interest from developers, so there will be an ad-hoc convening of the panel to respond to that. We anticipate 12-15 requests from developers a year.’

The deadline to apply is the 30 November at 12 noon.
