Broadway Malyan scoops huge Singapore healthcare job

London-based Broadway Malyan is to create a masterplan for a huge healthcare hub in Singapore

The practice, which has an office in the South East Asian city, will also provide architectural and landscape design services for Health City Novena.

The hub will be built around Tan Tock Seng Hospital to serve patients in Central Singapore, where the local population is aging faster than the rest of the country.

It will link existing healthcare facilities along with the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine to create the largest healthcare complex in Singapore.

When complete in 2030, the hub will serve 30,000 patients, visitors, staff, students and residents every day.

Existing low-rise buildings will be replaced with multi-storey blocks to increase the floor space from 250,000m2 to 600,000m2.

Broadway Malyan said its ‘community-focused design philosophy’ would deliver a highly-sustainable complex with a large central open space featuring a new plaza.

The Broadway Malyan-designed National Heart Centre Singapore reached full height in April and is due to complete late this year.

AJ reported earlier this year that the construction industry in Singapore was forecast to grow by the equivalent of almost 5 per cent per year up to 2016.
