Bisset Adams’ ‘next generation’ Idea Store opens

Bisset Adams has completed a new Idea Store in Tower Hamlets, East London

London-based Bisset Adams’ £4.5 million development at Watney Market, close to David Adjaye’s much-publicised Whitechapel Idea Store, is being hailed as ‘the first of a new generation of Idea Stores’.

The building features a library, information, learning and community services, across three floors. Its glazed façade reveals a green staircase, visible externally, which signals the entrance to the library on the upper floors.

Created and managed by Tower Hamlets and launched in 1999, the Idea Store concept was set up as a ‘social hive of information within a community’, combining learning and meeting areas in a modern environment.
