Birds take a shine to Zaha’s Oxford building

As the wraps come off Zaha Hadid Architects’ long-awaited Middle East Centre at the University of Oxford it appears the curved, funnel-like addition to St Antony’s College has received a harsh verdict from the local wildlife.

A photo sent to the AJ shows birds have been defecating over the so-called Softbridge’s stainless-steel cladding.

The dirty protestors are sitting defiantly in the protected redwood tree that overhangs the building – the same ‘untouchable’ tree that held up the development back in 2009.
