Past Stirling Prize winners Haworth Tompkins, Wilkinson Eyre and Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios have been named on the shortlist for the redevelopment of Lancaster University’s Business School
The three practices are joined on the five-strong list by Hopkins and John McAslan and Partners, which won a RIBA Award earlier this year for its engineering building at the northern university.
The international RIBA-run contest saw entries from 34 practices each vying to redevelop the highly renowned management school providing ‘world-class and innovative’ teaching and research facilities.
The high-profile 18,000m² development is part of a £450 million regeneration masterplan for the Bailrigg campus drawn up by John McAslan and Partners.
Lancaster University Director of Facilities, Mark Swindlehurst, commented: ‘We are very excited to be entering the next phase of our competition with such a strong shortlist. We would like to thank all of the companies that responded to our competition call, the quality of submissions was incredibly high.’
The five shortlisted teams will each receive £10,000 to work up their ideas before submitting them in October.
The new building is set to open in 2019.
