Bennetts Associates’ new headquarters for Camden Council has been handed the Prime Minister’s Better Public Building Award
The 14-storey building was recognised at the British Construction Industry Awards which took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London last night (14 October).
The award, which was launched in 2001, recognises publicly funded projects that have completed on time, on budget and bring change to the community.
Bennett’s BREEAM Outstanding scheme houses a leisure centre, swimming pool, café, customer service centre and library alongside the council’s offices.
The project is one of the largest buildings to be completed so far in the southern quarter of Argent’s King’s Cross redevelopment, which also includes buildings by David Chipperfield Architects and Allies and Morrison.
Skills minister Nick Boles, said: ‘Five Pancras Square shows how government and construction firms working together can deliver innovative, environmental and cost effective buildings.’
