BDP and Rural Office for Architecture (ROA) have been selected to design a new headquarters for Welsh broadcaster S4C in a rural location in Carmarthen
The duo defeated Huw Griffiths Architects and CB3 Engineers, Boyes Rees with Cambria and Lawray Architects to win the University of Wales Trinity St David-backed project.
The ‘Canolfan S4C Yr Egin’ building – which will also host creative businesses and community groups – will be constructed on the prestigious university’s Carmarthen campus.
Explaining the project, BDP’s Neil Sansum said: ‘This is a collaborative partnership between a global brand and a local creative practice. The balance of BDP’s experience and proven track record of delivery is matched with ROA’s local knowledge, high standards of design, and their capability to deliver BDP’s high standard of service.’
He continued: ‘BDP has vast experience in helping universities all over the world to realise their vision for collaborative leaning environments and is well placed to produce an innovative and exciting design-led solution in the region.’
The project is planned to completed in 2018.
