Atkins reveals plans for Bristol cable-car network

  • Comment

Atkins has released designs for a cable-car transit system for Bristol, which would give passengers views of Brunel’s Temple Meads station and the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

The planned route will also take in the city’s historic docks and allow views of Brunel’s SS Great Britain, docked in Bedminster.

Atkins said the scheme would be ‘similar to the Harbour Cable Car in Barcelona, Spain – known as the Transbordador Aeri – which carries 400,000 people a year and operates on 315ft-high steel-lattice masts’.
