Last weekend a gaggle of leading architects sketched the City of London as part of Article 25’s annual 10x10 Drawing the City event
The Stirling Prize-shortlisted Shard formed the centre point for the 10x10 grid which is laid across an area London and forms the areas which architects, artists, illustrators and photographs interpret for the charity.
Each participant is allocated a square and donates an artwork inspired by the buildings and public space within their square.
Architects who took part in the sketching weekend included Allies & Morrison, KPF, Atkins, Atomik Architecture and Perkins+Will.
An auction of the works, to raise funds for the charity, will take place at the Shard on 27 November.
Works up for auction will also include sketches by Wilkinson Eyre founder Chris Wilkinson, Terry Farrell, Rogers Stirk Harbour and Partners’ Ivan Harbour, 2013 AJ Woman Architect of the Year-shortlisted Mary Duggan, and RIBA-past president Sunand Prasad.
Last year the auction raised £90,000 for the charity, which used the funds to design and build street children’s centres across Africa. All funds raised from this year’s auction will go towards Article 25’s healthcare projects to improve the standard of health in the developing world.
