Allies and Morrison unveils plans for 30-storey east London tower

Allies and Morrison has designed a 30-storey residential tower in east London with integrated shared workspace

The practice’s Douglass Tower features a total of 167 one, two and three-bed apartments as well as a 155m2 flexible office and creative space with a viewing platform.

The building, named after civil engineer and lighthouse designer James Douglass, forms part of developer Ballymore’s Goodluck Hope development on Leamouth Peninsula in Poplar.

The developer says custom glass and metal panels in the apartments can be moved to form winter gardens that can be closed off to form a study space or dining area.

At the top of the proposed tower is ‘work-life space’ the Lantern Room, which forms part of the wider development’s 1595 Club amenities.

These broader facilities include a 25m-long swimming pool, a steam room, a gym, a business centre, a private cinema and a restaurant.

Ballymore group managing director John Mulryan said: ‘Douglass Tower is a landmark feat of design and will transform Goodluck Hope in line with our work at London City Island.

‘Ballymore is committed to preserving the unique heritage of all our development projects and we are excited to welcome new residents who value the cultural environment of the area.’
