Allies and Morrison picks up £100m Imperial College London scheme

Allies and Morrison is to design a £100 million School of Public Health at Imperial College London

Located at the university’s new White City campus, the project will provide ‘collaborative, flexible and interactive’ spaces for academics, students and the wider community.

Plans consist of two masonry buildings interwoven with contrasting textures of coloured cast metal.

The buildings will host research, clinical and flexible teaching space along with laboratories and administrative offices.

Imperial said the the school would use the power of data and technology to gain insight into some of the most complex health problems in modern society and design new solutions to them.

The university this summer launched a campaign to raise £100 million for the scheme. A £25 million donation from Norwegian philanthropist Marit Mohn Westlake will help fund construction of the first of the buildings, a world-leading research centre aiming to prevent chronic disease in children.

Allies and Morrison was appointed in 2014 to design the 13-storey Michael Uren Biomedical Research Hub. Currently under construction, this will provide flexible accommodation and laboratory space for translational research initiatives at the interface of biomedical sciences and engineering.

In 2016, the practice was appointed to masterplan the southern portion of the White City campus. The School of Public Health will be on the northern half of the campus.
