AJ Retrofit Awards finalists revealed Part 4: Shops, schools, leisure and higher education

The AJ can reveal the fourth set of finalists vying for this year’s ‘retrofit Oscars’. Today: Shops, schools, leisure and higher education

This week we will be announcing all the projects shortlisted for the AJ Retrofit Awards 2017, looking at schemes ranging from small house conversions to the overhaul of historic listed structures.

Among the practices shortlisted for their university work are Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, Hawkins\Brown and Associated Architects, while BDP has three finalists in the leisure category – which also includes the revamp of Future System’s Media Centre at Lord’s Cricket Ground by David Miller Architects.

There are also nominations for school retrofit projects by Maccreanor Lavington, Shepheard Epstein Hunter and Architype and a shop fit-out by Pentagram Design.

Last year Allford Hall Monaghan Morris was crowned the overall winner, picking up the coveted Retrofit of the Year prize for its £2.9 million revamp of Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre.

The 2017 winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at The Brewery in London on 13 September (for more information click here). The AJ Retrofit Awards are sponsored by Sapa Building Systems, Cantifix and Schlüter-Systems.
