Adjaye unveils £600m Piccadilly redevelopment

  • Comment

The first images of David Adjaye Associates’  West End redevelopment scheme have been revealed

The project, which has an estimated value of £600 million, is one of Adjaye Associates’ biggest UK jobs to date.

The practice saw off a star-studded shortlist including Rem Koolhaas, Jean Nouvel, Frank Gehry and Eric Parry to secure the Ritz-facing revamp more than a year ago (AJ 30.01.14).

The mixed-use project at 70-73 Piccadilly for emerging development company Crosstree Real Estate Partners will replace a post-war office building between Berkeley Street and Dover Street, together with the Holiday Inn Mayfair.

Crosstree was set up in 2011 with about £500 million of backing from the Bertarelli family, the Swiss-Italian pharmaceutical dynasty.

After buying 1-3 Berkeley Street in December 2011, the developer went on to snap up the neighbouring property at 48 Dover Street for £83.5 million from London Asset Management in June 2013.
