I'm not sure I understand the passive vs breathable rationale here.
The architect interview implies that passive houses must be built from petrochemical based materials when this is simply not the case. Yes you need a mechanical ventilation system, but the rest of the fabric can be built from anything.
Some excellent alternative materials in the project, but if they had adopted some other passive house principles (i.e. good windows and thermal bridge free) the energy consumption could have been even less???
