We worked with Frank Duffy and Jonathan Kendall of Fletcher Priest Architects and Westfield UK to document the design and construction of Westfield Stratford CIty, Europe’s largest shopping centre. The volume also included excerpts form the Design Review Panel meetings
The books look great. A great project to work on. Thanks for you and your team’s efforts
Simon Cochrane, Design Director Westfield UK
This 110-page monograph tells the story of the design, construction and build of Europe’s largest shopping centre on the grounds of former railway sidings, as well as providing a behind-the-scenes look at the design review process set up as part of the planning agreement for this massive new addition to Stratford, East London.
Contributions from expert historians illustrate the history of the site, detailing its rise in popularity and subsequent decline, thereby forming a basis from which the story of Westfield Stratford City’s conception and birth can flourish.
Chapters are punctuated with in-depth interviews offering an insight into the perspectives of the developers, local council and scheme’s tenants, complemented by a series of high-quality photographs, sketches, technical drawings and site plans to provide a comprehensive overview of one of the projects that transformed a forgotten space in England’s capital city.
A special edition of the book was printed to give to Westfield’s VIP visitors on their arrival to the London 2012 Olympic Games.
