Lend Lease are housed in a six-storey 1970s building in Hanover Square, London.
A building management system measures energy consumption and is monitored by a facilities management team. Electricity and gas meters are read manually on a monthly basis, and additional electricity sub-meters on each floor enable more detailed tracking of electricity use. The facilities team works with an external contractor to ensure that the plant operates at peak efficiency.
Energy consumption data, along with the annual target and industry benchmarks, is posted quarterly on noticeboards throughout the building. The company has committed to reduce this year’s energy consumption by 10 per cent for all leased tenancies in its portfolio, and to achieve net zero carbon by 2016.
Lend Lease has also invested in projects to offset the building’s carbon footprint and employee travel.
