The 2014 Passivhaus Award is on the hunt for exemplar projects
The international award for energy efficient buildings has opened its 2014 competition.
Competition entries can include single buildings or entire districts and regions.
Passivhaus certification is a prerequisite of all new build projects, while compliance with Enerphit is required for all retrofits submitted to the awards.
The jury will evaluate the architectural design and urban planning aspects of the projects with special attention given to the use of renewables in sustainable energy supply concepts.
Wolfgang Feist, director of the Passivhaus Institute said: ‘With Passivhaus, designers and architects have complete creative freedom – the requirements for functionality, structure, economics and ecology can all be combined in a visually appealing way.’
The submission deadline for the awards is 30 September 2013.
The winners will be announced at the International Passivhaus Conference in Germany in April 2014.
Entries can be submitted online at www.passivehouse-award.org.
