Contractor BAM has formally handed over the £74 million project which will house 3,000 objects from the city’s transport collection.
Construction of the museum, which is due to open in late spring, started in 2007.
Jim Ward, who lead the BAM team, said: ‘This project has tested our techniques and our thinking, but we’ve expanded our minds and our methods, and proven that BAM can deliver the UK’s most complex architectural concepts and engineering.
‘It’s a building that truly makes it’s mark, and it’s had a similar effect for us as the team that actualised Zaha Hadid’s vision.’
Backed by Glasgow City Council, the competition-winning scheme next to the Clyde was originally estimated to cost £50 million.
