World class bricklaying

  • Comment

Chris Armitage (right) is the UK bricklaying representative in the International Youth Skill Olympics at Montreal this November.

He was selected at St Helen's College, Merseyside, as various construction trades pitted their skills on a demanding workpiece, competing for the honour of representing their country. Chris was chosen from a group of five talented bricklaying candidates, improving dramatically on his bronze position at the Skillbuild National Final in July 1998.

Chris, of Wimborne in Dorset, works for his father's building company and has been a full-time or part-time student at Bournemouth and Poole College of Further Education for five years. He is keen to emulate the achievements of Lee Blower, Gold Medal Winner at the last Youth Skill Olympics in 1997.
