RIBA's wording in the charter and byelaws was accused of being sexist and ripe for change by Yasmin Shariff. Shariff criticised the constant use of 'he' and 'him' in the texts, and called for a complete overhaul. Director general Alex Reid agreed with the sentiment but said that formally the Institute would need a Special General Meeting to agree on the changes.
