Where is it easiest to win planning?

Newly released figures show that some authorities are significantly more like to give the green light to your planning application than others

The AJ crunched the latest DCLG figures on planning permissions granted in England between April and June this year to find the councils* which approved the highest proportion of determined planning applications.

Only four of the top 15 (with approval rates of 97 per cent or above) were outside the North and Midlands. 

The top three – Darlington, St.Helens and Stoke-on-Trent – all managed to approve 99 per cent of schemes they considered.

Two London boroughs – Newham and Hillingdon - languished at the bottom of the pile – only approving 64 per cent each.

*Only councils receiving that made more than 100 decisions in those three months were considered
