Ian Ritchie Architects has teamed up with Picardi Architects to compete with Alsop & Stormer and five other European practices for the commission for the new headquarters for the Italian Space Agency in Rome.The competition for the £8 million building will be judged by a panel which includes Richard Rogers and Daniel Libeskind. Other architects in the running Massimiliano Fuksas, fresh from winning the competition for Rome's new congress centre, Enric Miralles, Bernard Tschumi, Jean-Marc Ibos and Studio Archea. The 6400m2 building will include an exhibition space as well as offices and will be built next to Zaha Hadid's proposed centre for contemporary arts in the Flaminio quarter.
