Warrenpoint Mews by Loci

Comprising a listed former coach house located to the rear of a terrace of Victorian houses, this mews was gutted by its previous owners during the 1970s and converted for use as two flats

Loci’s brief was to refurbish and extend the coach house at first floor level, with a view to it being used as a single dwelling by the owners of the main house for their retirement.

A new entrance is formed in the old stone garden wall with ramp and steps down to garden level. A separate entrance is provided giving access directly off the laneway to the rear. The solution maximises the limited space available by adding a second A-frame roof over the former ‘lean-to’ structure at the rear, while restoring the character and integrity of the existing structure and providing for future accessibility.

The main living room is opened to the south with a new garden room, formed from a single bespoke piece of glu-laminated timber, and separated from the front wall of the coach house by a glazed light-slot, allowing light to penetrate into the new living space and separating old from new.
Cost: £245,000
