98 per cent of police forces, 97 per cent of healthcare services, 41 per cent of fire brigades and 25 per cent of London Underground are at risk from the Millennium Bug but have plans in place. 13 per cent of uk councils are in severe risk of disruption, says Action 2000.

All highway authorities agree with Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott's traffic-reduction policies in last year's transport White Paper, says Friends of the Earth. But while 98 per cent of all 149 authorities backed safe routes to school, 94 per cent bus-priority networks, and 86 per cent tighter parking controls, only 26 per cent agreed with introducing road- pricing.
