The average cost of building a university is £8,888 per student, according to the latest study of functional unit prices by the Building Cost Information Service.

Westminster is the fastestgrowing borough in England and Wales, says the Office of National Statistics, with a population of 244,597, a rise of 5.6 per cent on last year.

The average growth across Greater London was 1.2 per cent.

First time homebuyers in London spend an average of 40 per cent of their income on mortgage repayments, compared with 22.4 per cent in the north of England,25.4 per cent for Wales and 24.1 per cent in Scotland.
