Vital statistics: importance of oil falling

  • Comment

The importance of oil to the global economy is falling.

A third less oil produced the same amount of economic wealth in 1999 as in the early 1970s. Britain used less oil per person last year, 10.5 barrels compared with the 11 euro-member countries which used 14 per person.
