Ushida Findlay, HOK and Wilkinson Eyre have been named on the five-strong shortlist to redesign Southend’s fire ravaged pier.
Southend-on-sea council have shortlisted five firms from 74 entries for the £5 million project. The competition was announced in May 2009 in association with the Landscape Institute to find a design for the pier head which has been damged by fire three times, most recently in 2005.
The winning project - expected to be announced next month - will build ‘on the town’s cultural attractions and also make the most of its important heritage.’
