The architectural elegance of the Tage lantern from Urbis is putting on a performance of its own outside the new theatre in Milton Keynes. The design of the Tage was a concerted effort from a combination of engineers and architects to challenge conventional approaches to the design of street lighting. The lantern has a high-pressure sodium lamp, with integral control gear comprising ballast, ignitor and capacitor on a removable gear tray. The lantern is laterally mounted directly onto a tapered tubular column at a recommended height of 6-12m.
