Oh dear. the following notice appears on Ribanet news: 'APOLOGY. An earlier obituary of Hugh Casson stated that he was the architect for the Skylon at the 1951 Festival of Britain. The architects of the Skylon were, of course, Powell & Moya.' Rather unfortunate for an institute which likes to think of itself as the champion of a 'knowledge-based profession', especially given other errors in recent months. Perhaps the biggest howler was a piece about Rick Mather after he had won the South Bank masterplanning competition. This appeared to have been copied from the Guardian and described Mather, who was born in Oregon and has lived and worked here since the 1960s, as 'an LA-based architect'. Nor did the piece refer to Rick's sterling work which Portland Place might have been expected to notice: as a riba councillor!
