Charles Jencks, Will Alsop and Marc Quinn will be discussing beauty at the Royal Academy at 6pm on 12 June. Tickets cost £10 (concessions £5) and can be booked on 020 7300 5839.

Three-year-old London practice AJ Browne is set to 'dramatically enhance' the character of south London's Forest Hill conservation area with this series of stepped town houses. The practice is working on the proposal for seven three-bedroom town houses with a new block of 11 flats above an existing retail unit. The architect was inspired by the bright white facades of stuccoed seafront houses, but included a dramatic transparent, glazed double-storey inset with robust metal detailing to provide a strong structural cruciform shape to contrast with the simple rendered surround.
